Gaithersburg, MD. Colleagues working the Saturday morning shift at Smoothie Palace have confirmed movements of Shannon’s boil down the nape of her neck, to just above her shoulder.

The skin abscess has had a late start this autumn with expectations of movement earlier in October. This annual trek allows the boil to survive in a warmer environment, where it will eventually lie snugly in her shirt and be hidden from the cooler temperatures above.

During the spring and summer months, the boil will return upward to Shannon’s ear where it will be further away from the warmth of her chest and often be shielded from the summer heat by Shannon’s long hair.

Colleagues have already begun speculating whether the boil’s final form will resemble a horse or half moon at the end of the season.
